Maupin 2008
Friday Morning June 13, 2008 (really more late Thursday night), winding down at destination after weeks of anticipation. Air rarified with less city, less valley, less rain, high dessert dry. Quiet, only Deschutes River tumbling by. Bright clear sky, fat waxing moon, lighting the night and broad views of sky sage brushed hills afford, standing in wonder on the planet under the cosmos in awe of it all strikingly beautiful and now. Fellow campers drifting to bed even at our arrival after dark on a long June day. Early and already a sizeable contingency of VW busses camping. Tomorrow, I'll be watching the camp grow, rather than driving into the midst of the arrival. So glad to be away from the normal day-to-day and now under wide desert sky brighter star and moon lit because the city we have slipped.
A year, much passes many changes people jobs politics mostly people and the joy of gathering another year comparing bruises, rites?, engine, health. Patching commiserating, glad to gather out of the norm to enjoy similar ilk.
